Tout a commencé pour Christophe-Gilbert Lequarré (alias Spyk) en 1990 par un voyage à New York. Il découvre le graffiti en sillonnant les rues de « la grosse pomme », ce qui inspire son style. De retour en Belgique, il développera son style artistique et utilisera la bombe de peinture en projection pour créer des toiles qui donnent un rendu photographique de son travail. Par ses paysages « à l’américaine », il s’inscrit « spontanément » dans la tradition du réalisme américain à la Hopper.

It all started for Christophe-Gilbert Lequarré (alias Spyk) in 1990 with a trip to New York. He discovers graffiti by criss-crossing the streets of « the big apple », which inspires his style. Back in Belgium, he will develop his artistic style and use spray paint in projection to create canvases that give a photographic rendering of his work. Through his « American-style » landscapes, he « spontaneously » fits into the tradition of American realism à la Hopper.
